The annual Pancake Breakfast and Used Book Sale is our first, and perhaps our largest, sixth-grade fundraiser. Students will have the opportunity to sell tickets to the breakfast as a way to help fund their outdoor science trip. Every ticket sold by students will make a dollar for dollar deduction of their outdoor ed tuition. For example, a child who sells $60 worth of tickets will pay $60 less in tuition. Students should anticipate receiving their information and ticket packets early in the second week of school. The Pancake Breakfast is traditionally held the first Sunday of October. We ask that all sixth graders and their parents sign up for a time to volunteer for a short period during the event. As this is a fundraiser, all school families and community members are invited to attend and enjoy the day.
Outdoor Science School
We will be attending Outdoor Science Camp at Thousand Pines Camp again this year. We have been attending this camp for a number of years and have always had a wonderful time. Students will have the opportunity to learn about our ecosystem, ecology, life forms, water cycles, teamwork, rock climbing, and so much more at camp. For many students, this trip will be the first time they are away from home. This can make them, and their parents, a bit nervous. Rest assured, they are supervised 24 hours per day while we are away. While we have had students regret notattending camp, we have never had a student regret choosing to go. The camp experience allows all of our students to bond as a group across classes, while providing each student the opportunity to begin to successfully navigate the world independently. We are working on providing all of the information you will need linked to this site. In the meantime, you can learn more about the camp and the program by visiting http://thousandpinesoutdoored.com
